Spring is “On the Air”

The Mariners begin the Cactus League season tomorrow at 1:00 pm MT/12 noon PT, with a game against the Oakland Athletics at Phoenix Municipal Stadium. It marks the first of 22 games from Arizona that will be broadcast on 710 ESPN Seattle and selected stations on the Mariners Radio Network. To maximize the spring radio schedule, six of the Monday-Thursday game broadcasts will be delayed until 7:00 pm PT, and all six of those games broadcasts will be available live on mariners.com. You can view the entire spring broadcast schedule for spring training and the regular season via Mariners.com.

The delayed radio games this spring will be the following:

  • March 6,  7, 8, 13, 20, 21 (available live online at Mariners.com)

710 ESPN Seattle will air the Cactus League Report from 7-9pm PT on the three Mondays (March 5, 12 and 19) when games are not being carried. The show will cover the Mariners and other MLB stories each Monday.

Rick Rizzs will be the lead radio announcer again in 2012, and throughout the spring he will be joined by Dave Sims, Mike Blowers, Ken Levine and Ron Fairly, with visits by Jay Buhner and Dan Wilson. Ken Wilson will partner with Rick as 710 ESPN broadcasts three of the four games of the 2012 Japan Opening Series, including the two season opening games against the A’s, March 28-29.

ROOT SPORTS will televise six Cactus League games this spring, beginning with the games March 14-15 at 7pm PT.  In addition to the games, ROOT SPORTS coverage of the Mariners this spring will include the following:

  • Mariners All-Access: Spring Training will air daily from March 2-24.
  • Mariners All-Access: Japan will air daily March 25-30.
  • Mariners All-Access: Season Preview will air daily April 2-6

One of the most frequently asked questions of the year is: will the Season Opening Games in Japan (vs. Oakland March 28-29) be televised?

The answer is YES.  Both games will be carried live on ROOT SPORTS and both will be replayed later in the day.

How does one get to meet Randy Adamack at spring training. He is on my MLB Front Office Team Fantasy Team!

so excited. baseball is here!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to whomever made it possible for us to see the games in Japan. I want to see how their fans will respond. They do things very differently there, and I have not taken time to watch an entire game before. I can’t wait for this year’s team. I don’t care if the don’t win 100 games this year–I want to see the new kids and watch them grow. I hope they can grow into another team like the guys from 2001!! I’ve never had that much fun and excitement in a single year. Go, kids, go!
